To say he broadened his horizons with 2022’s Tremonti Sings Sinatra might just be the understatement of the century though. He paid homage to 14 Sinatra classics backed by surviving members of Ol’ Blue Eyes’ band in addition to a cadre of A-list session players. Right out of the gate, it incited widespread audience and tastemaker applause. Beyond features from Billboard, CBS New York, Washington Post, and many more, Carson Daly spotlighted the project on TODAY and raved, “Bar-none the best Frank Sinatra cover I’ve ever heard.” Donating 100% of the album’s proceeds to the National Down Syndrome Society [NDSS] as part of his Take A Chance For Charity initiative, NDSS notably honored Mark and his family at its Annual Gala & Auction in 2023 and was a featured performer in 2024. Moreover, the album hit #1 on the Billboard Top Jazz Albums Chart, and he would go on to play a handful of sold-out shows in support of the album. In October 2023, Mark Tremonti partnered with AdventHealth to open the SMILE with Stella Tremonti Down Syndrome Clinic, the first lifespan Down syndrome program in the Southeastern United States caring for children and adults with Down syndrome named after his daughter. In May 2024, Mark Tremonti performed acoustic at the inaugural, sold-out Tremonti Family Golf Outing in support of NDSS with his reunited Creed bandmates of Scott Stapp, Brian Marshall and Scott Phillips and continues to be a major advocate to the Down syndrome community.

“Diamond” David Lee Roth returned to the stage for the first time in five years at the M3 Festival. So, with the return of a rock and roll icon, it was only fitting to look back on a Van Halen record for the June edition of the Do You Remember series. Van Halen had massive success with their debut self-titled record. Van Halen shot up the charts to No. 19 on the US Billboard chart and launched them into another stratosphere.

After the great success of their debut record, the band headed back into the studio to record their sophomore album. Now, theirs a reason why there is the saying of “sophomore slump.” It’s because the band, athlete, or whoever’s second time around doesn’t gain as much traction as their first effort. This was not the case for Van Halen II – in fact, it shot to the No. 6 position on the US Billboard chart, further cementing their status as a force to be reckoned with.

The 32-minute record kicks off with “You’re No Good.” The track’s intro features a mini nod to “Runnin’ With the Devil” before it slowly chugs into the rest of the song. What Van Halen did great throughout their careers was create harmonies on choruses despite not being great singers, except for the lead vocalist. Michael Anthony and Alex Van Halen’s monster beats trudge the track forward, which creates a true “heavy metal” opening. Van Halen elects to have a heavy, slowly moving song that builds anticipation rather than a loud and in-your-face track.

Song two, “Dance the Night Away,” is phenomenal. It slightly shows the band’s pop side while keeping their rougher-edged rock and roll side. It’s amazing how confident they were with this song, as it’s the second song listeners hear. There wasn’t a song similar to this on Van Halen. I liked how Eddie Van Halen didn’t feel the need to add a crazy solo to this song. He took more of a rhythm approach and let the entire band bask in the sunlight.

By song three, true rock fans get exactly what they were looking for. “Somebody Get Me a Doctor” is one of the band’s heavy songs on the record, yet it’s one of their best. I love how Roth is borderline screeching on this song. It matches Van Halen’s guitar tone and creates a hungry and nasty beast throughout. This is one of the tracks on the album that deserves to be played over and over again and louder each time.

On “Bottoms Up!” there’s a great jumpy beat to the tune, which brings out a lighter feel to the song. When it comes to this song, both of Van Halen’s solos are his most underrated. The first solo is very quick; he gets in and just as quickly, he’s done and fades into the back. He backs off to allow Roth and Anthony to harmonize with minimal other instruments around. As soon as they’re done, he blasts back into another monstrous solo that carries the song to its natural finish.

“Outta Love Again” picks up where “Bottoms Up!” left off. It’s got another jumpy yet faster vibe to it. The band chiming in creates a faster pace to the song, which makes it seem like they’re on a runaway train. Even though the song is almost three minutes long, it feels quicker than that and helps the record move forward to a powerful second half.

The hard rock and roll continues with song six, “Light Up the Sky.” I love the intro of the band playing down the note scales in order to create an uncomfortable feeling. The entire band is in top-notch form on this song. From how tight they are playing at a fast tempo, to chiming in on vocals when needed, they’re on fire (no pun intended on another song title of theirs). “Light Up the Sky” could have worked as the very first song on the record – it’s gutsy, ballsy and sums up Van Halen in just over three minutes.

On song seven, “Spanish Fly,’ it features just Van Halen noodling away on an acoustic guitar. It’s Van Halen II’s “Eruption.” It’s just over a minute in length, but it showcases just how brilliant Van Halen was as a guitarist. To hear every note so clearly on an acoustic guitar sends shivers down the spines of listeners.

The band returns for “D.O.A.” The acronym truly stands for “Dead or Alive,” but the band decided to shorten it for some reason. Lee’s sing/talks in a monotone voice which creates a more serious snarl to the tune. But when it comes to the chorus, he shows off his chops by harmonizing again with the band. I wish this song were higher up on the track list, it’s almost unfair that this song is towards the bottom of the record. It’s an amazing showcase of how great the band is together.

“Women In Love…” starts with Van Halen strumming and tapping away on his guitar, almost creating a dreamlike lullaby feeling – it’s nothing short of spectacular. “Women In Love…” is a pop-infused rock tune that dances the fine line between both of them. Even if Van Halen decided to go full-on pop, they would excel in that area, too. There’s a great call and response with Roth and the rest of the band on this track, which makes it the perfect song to sing along to.

The album closes with “Beautiful Girls,” which sums up the rock and roll life to a tee. With lyrics like “all I need is a beautiful girl… I love ‘em, I need ‘em!” is the rock and roll life. It’s a fun song that doesn’t dive into complexity; the songwriting is pretty straightforward and makes for a fun song.

Lightning struck twice for Van Halen. Once for their debut record and the second time on Van Halen II. It’s hard to choose which record – the first or the second – is better. I’d even challenge you to think that Van Halen II might be better than Van Halen. For 10 songs that run 32 minutes, there is more magic captured on this record. It’s almost a perfect record and is one of the band’s best… and it was only their second record, ever.

About Jason Bonham

Jason Bonham always finds himself at home behind the drumkit. From this spot, he has anchored the tempo for a myriad of the most legendary artists of all-time. It’s the place where he initially realized his destiny as a kid. It’s a tried-and-true safe harbor for the expression of his purest emotions. It’s a direct conduit to his late father and Led Zeppelin drummer John Bonham. Following stints with Airrace and Virginia Wolf, he handled drums on Jimmy Page’s gold-certified Outrider. During 1988, he notably accompanied Page, John Paul Jones, and Robert Plant behind the kit for Led Zeppelin at the Atlantic Records 40th Anniversary Celebration Concert. Beyond helming solo projects such as Bonham and The Jason Bonham Band, he appeared in Rock Star with Mark Wahlberg and Jennifer Anniston. Plus, he lent his talents to Foreigner, Little Steven, Joe Bonamassa, and Paul Rodgers. He held down the drums for Led Zeppelin’s 2007 reunion at the Ahmet Ertegun Tribute Concert—which set the Guinness World Record® for “Highest Demand for Tickets for One Music Concert.” The evening spawned the Celebration Day concert film and multiplatinum album, debuting Top 10 on the Billboard 200, selling three million-plus copies, and garnering a GRAMMY®. Other notable projects have included Black Country Communion (Bonamassa, Glenn Hughes, and Derek Sherinian) and California Breed (Hughes and producer and guitarist Andrew Watt). He joined Sammy Hagar and the Circle with Van Halen’s Michael Anthony and Vic Johnson. In 2010, he introduced Jason Bonham’s Led Zeppelin Evening (JBLZE), packing venues coast-to-coast and supporting everyone from Heart to Kid Rock. A spectacle of top-flight musicianship, arresting visuals, mind-blowing lighting, and emotionally charged storytelling, Rolling Stone hailed its “set of Led Zep gems that were strikingly faithful to the originals,” while Billy Joel personally handpicked JBLZE to open a handful of dates. Ultimately, Jason remains forever at home on the drums.

Day two of Boardwalk Rock brought what seemed to be even more people out to listen to their favorite bands. The day featured a little cooler temperature with overcast skies and a little more breeze, which made the trek between stages a little easier than the day before. Day two’s headliners were Alice Cooper, Shinedown, Three Days Grace and Nickelback. Three Doors Down cancelled their appearance due to Brad Arnold getting a stage four cancer diagnosis. We wish him the best in his battle. Also on the bill were Tim Montana, Saliva, Black Stone Cherry, Lit, Fuel, Crossfade, Dorothy, Candlebox, Night Ranger, and Bret Michaels.

Once again, the boardwalk was in full swing and filled in quickly with concert goers wanting to grab a quick bite to eat before their marathon day of running from stage to stage to catch all of their favorite bands, while others took a different approach by spreading out a blanket on the sand and staying put for most of the day. The crowd was full of every demographic of people you could imagine, however, it’s always great to see the younger generation getting out to see the bands that we all grew up with. It lets us know that rock is still alive and thriving. Eddie Trunk from Sirius/XM was on hand again to introduce many of the bands. As with the day before, due to bands having the same start times, I was unable to cover every band in attendance.

Tim Montana

Bolt Stage 12:30-1:15

First to take the stage was Tim Montana.

Tim grew up in Butte, Montana and started learning to play guitar at age 6. He moved to Los Angeles and then to Nashville and continued to pursue his career in country and southern rock. The crowd quickly bellied up to the front of the stage and Tim won them over while he played a short 45-minute set of rockin’ original tunes. Tim refers to his touring band as the Shrednecks. He made sure to mention his friend, Robert J. Oniell, a former Navy Seal Team 6 member and longtime friend from Butte, who was credited with killing Osama Bin Laden. He then thanked all current military members and veterans before playing “Die Today”.  Tim has 6 studio albums out, with the most recent released in 2024 called Savage. They made sure to play their most popular song, “Devil You Know”, and ended their set with “Savage”.

Saliva

Thunder Stage 1:15-2:00

Black Stone Cherry

Lightning Stage 1:15-2:00

Black Stone Cherry was a must see for me. This high energy rock band from North Carolina never fails to bring a killer performance to the stage. They were the first band of the day to play on the Lightning stage, and even though they were up against Saliva, who I was told put on a stellar show on the main stage, they really packed in their fans for a 45-minute set of killer hard rock favorites. They started the set with “Me and Mary Jane”, and Ben Wells always starts the day off with a big kick. I swear, he must drink a six-pack of Redbull before the set. He’s one of the most entertaining performers of the weekend. At one point, he jumped off the drum riser and his guitar strap came undone from one side of the guitar. he proceeded to jump and flail around making fun of it before his tech gave him a hand fixing it. (see photos) Drummer John Fred Young is also always putting on a show for the crowd. If you like hard rock and a killer stage show, check these guys out when they come to your town.

Lit

Bolt Stage 2:00-2:45

Late 90’s band Lit, best known for their hit song “My Own Worst Enemy” was the second band to grace the Bolt stage, and they really heated it up playing a 45-minute set of hard rock tunes. They formed in 1988, but gained mainstream popularity in 1999 with their album, A Place in the Sun. Lit kicked off their set with “Kicked Off the Plane” off of their most recent (2022) album called Tastes Like Gold. Bassist Kevin Baldes is also a fellow photographer who knows how to put on a show in front of the lens.  Founding member Jeremy Popoff was on guitar, brother Ajay Popoff on lead vocals, and Taylor Carroll on drums.  They also brought out Zach Myers from Shinedown to sing along on “My Own Worst Enemy”, the last song of the set. These rock icons have a bunch of shows lined up this summer and you don’t want to miss them.

Fuel has had laundry list of members with guitarist Carl Bell being the only original member. They have 6 Studio albums, the most recent was released in 2021 entitled Anomaly. Charismatic frontman Aaron Scott kept the crowd entertained and wore a huge smile throughout the set. You could tell they were having fun while playing a killer set of fan favorites. Six of the songs they played were off of their 2000 album Something Like Human. Their hit single “Shimmer” was one of three songs they played off of Sunburn. They also did a cover of The Eagles song “Hotel California” and ended with “Hemorrhage (in My Hands)”. These guys brought an energy and camaraderie to the stage as if they had been playing together for 40 years.

Dorothy

Bolt Stage 3:45-4:30

Dorothy is a rock band from Los Angeles formed in 2014 currently featuring Dorothy Martin on vocals, Sam Bam Koltun on guitar, Jake Hayden on drums, and Eliot Lorango on Bass. Dorothy has 4 studio albums, with the most recent having been released on March 14 of this year, entitled The Way. Dorothy has a powerful voice that has been featured on a bunch of other artist’s songs. Dorothy also made sure to mention Brad Arnold and send thoughts and prayers to him. They ended the set with “Tombstone Town” a song featuring Slash on the studio album.

Candlebox

Thunder Stage 4:45-5:45

Candlebox is an American rock band from Seattle Washington formed in 1990. They are best known for their singles “Change”, “You”, “Far Behind”, and “Cover Me”, all of which were played near end of set. Led by original members Kevin Martin on lead vocals and Peter Klett on lead guitar, and newer members Adam Kury on bass, Island Styles on rhythm guitar, BJ Kerwin on drums. Candlebox was celebrating 32 years of American made Rock and Roll as could be seen on the screen at the back of the stage. They played a cover of “It’s Not My Time” by Three Doors Down in dedication to Brad Arnold. For the last song of the set, Bobby Amaru of Saliva got to get on stage with them and sing one of his favorite songs of the 90’s, “You”.

Night Ranger

Alice Cooper

Bolt Stage 5:45-6:45

The pioneer of shock-rock, Alice Cooper, was the one band I was looking forward to capturing the most on my camera on Sunday. Alice is known for having an over-the-top theatrical performance, utilizing many props, a giant Frankenstein running around, a guillotine, and even a live snake around his neck. Unfortunately, none of these antics were during the first 4 songs that we were allowed to photograph, so you’ll have to look on YouTube for videos from the show. Alice always has a crew of top-notch musicians performing with him. This included Ryan Roxie on lead guitar, Chuck Garric on bass, Tommy Henriksen on guitar, Nita Strauss on guitar, and Glen Sobel on drums. Every single one of them will keep you entertained, leaving you looking all over the stage to see what is going on every second of the show. Alice played a seventeen-song set, including all the favorites, and of course, ended the set with “School’s Out” with all of the band members intros. And, oh yeah, and Alice is NOT eighteen, he’s 77 but still puts on a phenomenal performance as if he were 18.

Shinedown

Thunder Stage 6:45-8:15

Shinedown is a band that I never really paid much attention to until a couple of years ago, and boy was I missing out. These guys are true entertainers, musicians, and artists. With Brent Smith on lead vocals and Barry Kerch drums since the band’s inception, and Zach Myers on guitar and Eric Bass on bass for longer than I have been following them. They have 7 studio albums, with the most recent being Planet Zero. Although I love all of the rocking songs the best, I developed a liking for “Symptom of Being Human” after seeing them play it liv,e not long after it came out. That one hits you right in the heart. They also played “Fly From the Inside” with original bassist Brad Stewart, who currently plays with Saliva. This was the first time they had played together since 2006. Closing in on the end of the hour-and-a-half set, they did a snippet of Three Doors Down’s “Kryptonite” as a nod to Brad Arnold and then played Lynyrd Skynyrd’s “Simple Man”. As any true fan would have hoped, they ended the set with “Sound of Madness” and “Second Chance”

[See image gallery at allmusicmagazine.com]

Bret Michaels

Lightning Stage 6:45-7:45

I only was able to get a few photos from afar of Bret Michaels because I was covering Shinedown, which started at the same time, and I wanted to get on the Ferris wheel to get some photos from up high before I had to go to Three Days Grace.

[See image gallery at allmusicmagazine.com]

Three Days Grace

Bolt Stage 8:15-9:30

Three Days Grace is a Canadian rock band formed in 1992 that has 8 studio albums, with the most recent being released on August 22 of this year, entitled Alienation. They played songs spanning their career. Songs that the casual fan might know are “I Hate Everything About You”, “Animal I Have Become”, “Never Too Late”, “Riot”, and “Pain”, all of which they performed. Late last year Adam Gontier returned to the band to sing along side of the current singer Matt Walst, who has been their singer since 2013. This made for a really cool show with them trading off vocals and singing along through the songs. Young vocalist Veda, daughter of Saliva vocalist Bobby Amaru, joined them on stage to help sing “Just Like You”. She definitely added a third dimension to the song, and what a powerful vocalist she is. Three Days Grace was probably in my top 6 performances of the weekend.

[See image gallery at allmusicmagazine.com]

Nickelback

Thunder Stage 9:30-11:00

With three original members still together, Chad Kroeger on vocals, Ryan Peake on rhythm guitar, Mike Kroeger on bass, and Daniel Adair on drums since 2005, these guys sure have their performance together.  They started the set with “San Quentin”, a song off their most recent album, Get Rollin’, which was released in 2022. This song really drew me in to take a better look into their music when it was released. Ryan Peake took to lead vocals on “Dirty Laundry”, a Don Henley cover. During the middle of the set, Zach Myers from Shinedown joined them on stage for the song “Figured You Out”. At one point, they mentioned that they were going to release a new version of “Rockstar”, which left fans questioning whether they were serious or just joking around. They ended the festival with the proverbial “Burn It To The Ground”.

With the final day of Boardwalk Rock Festival in the books, it is safe to say that it will happen again next year. It was a stellar weekend of top-notch bands playing all of our favorite songs along with great weather to enjoy next to a beautiful beach and boardwalk. There appeared to be very few incidences other than some people getting dehydrated. The festival provided free water at hydration stations as well as the staff handing out cartons to people that were close to the stage and couldn’t or didn’t want to leave to go get it. There were plenty of great food choices to keep everyone happy, and plenty of beverages. The boardwalk provided a break from the music for those that wanted it as well as provided entertainment for the kids. Fans have already taken to social media with their wish lists of bands for next year’s Boardwalk Rock Festival.

Day one of the inaugural Boardwalk Rock Festival took place in Ocean City, Maryland. After some heavy thunderstorms rolled through Friday night, a tornado watch, and a rainbow overlooking the festival area, the weather cleared out for Saturday, and it was beautiful with a little breeze. Perfect weather for around 55,000 music fans to descend on Ocean City to enjoy a day of hard rock and metal. Fans were excited to check out the festival grounds and get a feel for where everything was. With three stages, Lightning, Thunder, and Bolt, that would take a little time. Headlining Saturday’s event were Def Leppard, Halestorm, and recent addition, Rob Zombie, who replaced Alice in Chains, who was also a replacement for Motley Crue, who both had to cancel due to medical reasons, as well as 3 Doors Down. There were also a bunch of other bands from the eighties, nineties, and beyond. Fourteen bands in total would grace the stages on Saturday.

Fans started lining up around 10:00 for 12:00 doors. The lines were about three blocks long, and aside from some initial problems with scanners at a few gates, things went smoothly getting in. Once inside, you were immediately on the boardwalk, which had tons of food vendors and stands selling Ocean City shirts and collectibles. Just about everything you would need for a day at the beach could be found on the boardwalk.  Also at the boardwalk were Jolly Roger at the Pier, The Giant Wheel, and The Kraken. The rides were included with the festival wristband. Way off to the north side of the festival area was the main stage called Thunder. Then moving south, towards the center of the area was the big carnival area with the Ferris wheel, roller coaster, a few other rides and games. Just beyond that, facing the water was the medium-sized stage dubbed Lightning. Also in this area were the festival’s concession stands, an elevated ADA viewing area, and a VIP lounge area with air-conditioned bathrooms. Then, on the farthest southern point of the festival was the Bolt stage.

There were 5 levels of tickets, including general admission, GA plus, VIP, Platinum VIP, and Ultimate. The different levels of VIP had various perks, increasing with each level. VIP and Platinum had special cordoned off viewing areas off to one side of the stage, bleachers, an area with tables, and their own beverage stands and free water. Platinum also had a free lunch, snacks, and dinner. Ultimate had side stage access on the main stage, access to a backstage lounge area, and golf cart rides from stage to stage.

With so many bands playing, there were a lot of times when two bands had the same start time, so I had to pick and choose which bands to photograph, as we were only allowed to photograph three songs. The end stages were what seemed to be about 3/4 mile from each other, and this made for a 15-20 minute trek depending on how crowded the beach or boardwalk were. Throughout the day, I had a Santa Claus sighting, along with 2 guys in banana costumes, and I even found Waldo, although he was elusive from my camera. The full lineup of bands for day one was, Royale Lynn, Kat Von D, Trapt, Puddle of Mudd, The Struts, Extreme, Mammoth, Chevelle, Everclear, Bush, Rob Zombie, Flyleaf, Halestorm, and Def Leppard.

Royale Lynn

Bolt Stage 12:30-1:15

Royale Lynn is a new rock sensation who has a unique sound. Her powerful vocals carry a pop-rock feel to them, but combined with her heavier guitar and drums, it brings her sound to the forefront of modern rock. Her new album Black Magic is being released June 27th of this year. She played “Black Magic”, “Greed”, “Where Do We All Go When We Die”, “Six Feet Deep”, and a few others. “Six Feet Deep” hit number one on Billboard’s Hard Rock Digital Sales Chart last year. Lynn commented that she’s just a metalhead who grew up in the country, and that’s what her songs are about.  I would have loved to see a complete band on stage as there was no bass player. I loved their sound and her powerful vocals, and think they will be out headlining arenas in no time.

[See image gallery at allmusicmagazine.com]

Kat Von D

Thunder Stage 1:15-2:00

Kat Von D is a tattoo artist on the TLC reality show LA Ink as well as a recording artist. She took the stage with Sammi Doll on the keyboards, keytar, and background vocals. Kat makes electronic music with a darkness to it. Kat is on tour supporting her second album and drew a big crowd, even given the fact that she was one of the first artists to perform at the festival. The crowd gave her a huge, warm welcome to the event. Speaking of hot, the temperature was really starting to rise, making it important to stay hydrated at one of the free water filling stations or one of the many bars located around the festival.

Trapt

Lightning Stage 1:15-2:00

I didn’t get to stay and watch Trapt, however, I did get a photo of them while passing through to get to Puddle of Mudd at the Bolt stage.

[See image gallery at allmusicmagazine.com]

Puddle Of Mudd

Bolt Stage 2:00-2:45

Although they formed in 1992, they didn’t gain huge popularity until 2001, when the release of “Blurry” reached number 5 on the Billboard Hot 100. With Wes Scantlin on vocals and the only remaining original member, these guys had their performance together. They hit the stage with “Control” and “Psycho” two of my favorites, and ended the set with “Blurry” and “She Hates Me”. They also played “Beautimous” off of Kiss The Machine, which was just released.  Puddle of Mudd was a nice surprise for me. I was unsure how it would go, seeing as all of the members are new to the band.

[See image gallery at allmusicmagazine.com]

Extreme

Lightning Stage 2:45-3:45

Extreme, is a hard rock band from Boston, probably most known for “More Than Words” which hit number one on the Billboard charts in 1991. Led by charismatic frontman Gary Cherone and guitar wizard Nuno Bettencourt, these guys kept the fans thrilled through the entire set. Playing a set consisting mostly of songs off of Extreme II: Pornografitti, they also hit on a few songs off their recent album, Six, which was released in 2023. Bassist Pat Badger looked like a rock star with his custom hat, sunglasses, and hair blowing in the breeze. And on the drums, Kevin Figueiredo could be seen putting 110% into his kick ass performance. Everyone’s eyes were on Nuno for his guitar solo. But the highlight for any casual fan is hearing them play their number one hit “More Than Words”. Personally, my favorites are “Kid Ego”, and “Get the Funk Out”, both songs they also played.

[See image gallery at allmusicmagazine.com]

The Struts

Thunder Stage 2:45-3:45

Mammoth

Bolt Stage 3:45-4:45

Mammoth has been making waves and gaining fans for a few years now. With Wolfgang Van Halen as the band’s frontman, they got their name from his father’s band, with Alex prior to forming Van Halen. Mammoth has two studio albums out. Earlier this month, he shortened the band’s name from Mammoth WVH to just Mammoth, with the release of his latest single entitled “The End”. In addition to playing “The End”, Mammoth also played songs off of their two albums Mammoth WVH and Mammoth II. It was clear that Mammoth has acquired a really good following, and it showed by the number of people fist pumping and singing along.   Lzzy Hale of Halestorm could even be seen side stage watching Mammoth and later, Puddle of Mudd on the Bolt stage.

[See image gallery at allmusicmagazine.com]

Chevelle

Thunder Stage 4:45-5:45

Chevelle is a rock band from Illinois formed in 1995 by brothers Pete Loeffler on lead vocals and guitar and Sam Loeffler on drums. Currently, Kemble Walters is their touring bassist. “Send The Pain Below” is probably their most well-known song from the early 2000’s and they were certain to play it. On May 14 of this year, they released a video for “Rabbit Hole – Cowards, pt. 1” and they played it for their fans at Boardwalk Rock. Since then, they have announced that the self-produced album will be entitled Bright As Blasphemy. Chevelle rocked the Boardwalk without much extra stuff on the stage besides a few aliens in black robes and the video wall behind them.

Everclear

Lightning Stage 4:45-5:45

Bush

Bolt Stage 5:45-6:45

Rob Zombie

Thunder Stage 6:50-8:05

One week before the festival, Rob Zombie was announced as a replacement for Alice In Chains, who was a replacement for Motley Crue. I was excited for this announcement after having become a big fan seeing him with Alice Cooper on The Freaks on Parade Tour two times. Rob brought his theatrical blend of metal and industrial music to the stage, including all of his usual antics. Usually, when we see Rob Zombie perform, it is in a smoky theater with saturated red and blue lighting, adding to the mystique that is Zombie. Today, we got to see him in direct sunlight, which made it easier to do my job as a photographer. Mike Riggs was on guitar and backing vocals, Ginger Fish on drums, and Rob “Blasko” Nicholson on bass. In stark contrast to Chevelle, Zombie had his stage fully utilized with props, including a giant blow up robot alien, and during “Well, Everybody’s Fucking in a U.F.O.” there was a 10-foot alien walking around the stage.  Sherri Moon Zombie could be seen watching her husband perform from the ultimate VIP side stage balcony. At one point during his one-of-a-kind theatrical performance, Zombie stopped addressing the fans, “Are you sick of that song? I’ve officially played that 5381 times not counting rehearsals.”  and then asked the fans to “put your phones away and do it like the good old days”. Apparently, he was frustrated with people watching their phones as they filmed his performance rather than enjoying themselves. Zombie played all of the songs we love to sing along to, including “Superbeast”, “Living Dead Girl”, “More Human Than Human”, and “Dragula”.

[See image gallery at allmusicmagazine.com]

Flyleaf

Lightning Stage 6:50-7:50

Halestorm

Bolt Stage 8:05-9:20

Lzzy Hale, Halestorm’s power vocalist, always blows it out of the water, and this show was no exception. They performed an hour and fifteen-minute set, including a drum solo for Arejay Hale to show off his amazing talent. Halestorm played their new single “Darkness Always Wins” which was released on April 14 and will be on the new Album coming out on August 8th, entitled Everest. Lzzy always has some of the coolest stage clothes, and this show was no different. She was sporting leggings made out of leather stars that were all held together with metal hardware. (see photos) Lzzy is one of the most powerful frontwomen in the industry today. Her persona and strong attitude shine through in her performance night after night. Joe Hottinger kills it on the lead guitar as well as Josh Smith on Bass. My personal favorites were “I Get Off”, “Love Bites (So Do I)”, and “I Miss the Misery”.

[See image gallery at allmusicmagazine.com]

Def Leppard

Lightning Stage 9:30-11:00

Day one of the inaugural Boardwalk Rock Festival is in the books and was an amazing day. Of course, there will always be complainers, but for 99.9% of the concert goers, it was a stellar day of music, sun, food, and of course, a bunch of top rock bands. The weather was great, although many failed to put on sunscreen, and it showed on day 2. The VIP areas worked out well for most, the bathrooms were clean, and there were plenty of food choices for everyone at the festival concessions as well as the boardwalk vendors. There were several merch tents for festival t-shirts and swag as well as another for band merch. After a long day of fun, most fans seemed to be tired and wanting to head back to their hotels and rest up for the next day of music and partying.

An album that was fifteen years in the making, Dream Theater released their sixteenth studio album, Parasomnia on February 7, 2025, via their longtime label home, Inside Out Music/Sony Music. From the opening track “In The Arms Of Morpheus” to the closer of “The Shadow Man Incident,” Dream Theater returned with a collection of songs that showcased what has earned the band a loyal following for four decades. Clocking in at 71 minutes, Parasomnia debuted at #1 on the Billboard Top Hard Rock Albums, the Hard Music Albums and Current Rock Albums chart selling over 18,000 combined units the first week. It also debuted at #41 on the Billboard 200 which is notable for a progressive metal band and shows the bands devout fanbase. Parasomnia is a term for disruptive, sleep-related disturbances including sleepwalking, sleep paralysis, and night terrors.  The album was produced by Petrucci, engineered by James ‘Jimmy T’ Meslin, and mixed by Andy Sneap. Hugh Syme returns once again to lend his creative vision to the cover art. More information can be found HERE.

The track listing for Parasomnia is:

1)     In The Arms Of Morpheus (5:22)

2)     Night Terror (9:55)

3)     A Broken Man (8:30)

4)     Dead Asleep (11:06)

5)     Midnight Messiah (7:58)

6)     Are We Dreaming? (1:28)

7)     Bend The Clock (7:24)

8)     The Shadow Man Incident (19:32)

Beyond selling millions of records worldwide and gathering a billion-plus streams, Dream Theater have quietly evolved into progressive metal trailblazers over the course of an unprecedented journey earmarked by one unforgettable milestone after another. The career-launching Images & Words graced Rolling Stone’s “100 Greatest Metal Albums of All-Time,” while Awake claimed #1 on Guitar World’s “Superunknown: 50 Iconic Albums That Defined 1994.” In addition to emerging as Classic Rock’s “15thGreatest Concept Album,” Metropolis Pt. 2: Scenes from a Memory toppled a fan-voted Rolling Stone poll as the “Number One All-Time Progressive Rock Album.” They shook the charts with three Top 10 debuts on the Billboard 200 and headlined sold out shows everywhere from Radio City Music Hall to Red Rocks Amphitheatre. The band garnered a GRAMMY® Award in the category of “Best Metal Performance” for “The Alien” from 2021’s A View From The Top of the World. Of the latter, PROG raved, “Not just proper Dream Theater, then, but something ever-so-slightly bigger and better,” and Consequence attested, “A View From the Top of the World shows that the quintet is still offering music that is easily on par with their earlier efforts.” Now, Dream Theater have returned to their roots as James LaBrie [vocals], John Petrucci [guitar], John Myung [bass], and Jordan Rudess [keyboards] reunite with Mike Portnoy [drums] during their fortieth anniversary. Simultaneously, these five old friends enter a bold new era fueled by some of the most focused, formidable, and fiery music of their career. They’re harnessing the memories of the past and the promise of the future in order to make the most of the present. Ultimately, the group’s sixteenth full-length album, Parasomnia [Inside Out Music/Sony Music], represents both where they came from and where they’re going as not only bandmates, but as brothers.

Nestled in the shadow of Truist Park (home to the Atlanta Braves), the Coca-Cola Roxy played host to electronic music duo Empire of the Sun, with support from Roi Turbo, on a pleasant Sunday evening in the South. Opened as recently as 2017, this venue is a cornerstone destination within The Battery Atlanta, a mixed-used development of restaurants and condominiums adjacent to the ballpark, located approximately 10 miles northwest of downtown Atlanta. Fortunately for the sold out crowd that lined up hours before the doors were scheduled to open, the concert was not competing with a Braves home game (nor afternoon showers).

The show began at 8:00pm sharp with Roi Turbo, comprised of London-based brothers Benjamin and Conor McCarthy (originally from South Africa). Influenced by South African bubblegum pop and Nigerian disco, the duo performed clubby, electro-funk instrumental dance music for nearly 45 minutes straight. I’ll admit that I couldn’t really tell when one song ended and the next began, but the early audience ate them up and seemingly enjoyed their performance, which included several songs from their just-released second EP, Bazooka.

Following an extensive stage turn, the house went dark around 9:15pm, signifying to the 3,800+ Empyreans that Australian electronic duo Empire of the Sun was theatrically about to appear. Founded back in 2007 and anchored by Nick Littlemore and Luke Steele, Empire of the Sun is currently out on the road in support of their fourth studio album (and first in eight years), Ask That God (2024).

Behind stunning props, costumed dancers, and a giant backdrop LED screen display, Empire of the Sun amped up the capacity crowd starting with back-to-back tracks pulled from Ask That God, kicking off with “Changes,” which was immediately followed by “The Feeling You Get.” In fact, the 17-song, 90-minute set featured nearly half of their latest release, including additional tunes in fan-favorite “Cherry Blossom,” as well as “Television,” “Music On The Radio,” “Revolve,” “Ask That God,” and “Happy Like You.”

Having never seen Empire of the Sun live before (plus they have been on a six-year touring hiatus), I couldn’t have been more impressed with the musicianship, production quality, and meticulous attention to detail. The show was broken out into four seamless “Acts,” each with vivid visuals, costume changes, and character appearances such as Supa Chai (a dancing, squid-like creature). The Roxy crowd also appeared to be as diverse as the overall Empire of the Sun experience, ranging from the TikTok generation of younger adults to older parents with their little kids.

There was a joyful ambiance that emanated throughout the venue all set, but that emotion achieved its peak when the band performed arguably their greatest hit in “Walking on a Dream” from their award-winning debut studio album (2008). The entire Atlanta audience jumped up and down in unison, with each person having one hand extended high to the sky while the other was recording the moment on a smart phone.

After a brief pause in the musical action, Empire of the Sun then rolled into their two-song encore set, starting with “Standing on the Shore,” a track also pulled from Walking on a Dream. The band then wrapped up their magnificent evening with the tune “Alive,” the lead single off their second studio album, Ice on the Dune (2013). With a buzz still in the air, the enjoyably exhausted crowd shuffled out to the streets of The Battery to take selfies with the show’s sold out announcement on the venue’s video marque to capture the night.

Empire of the Sun will wrap up their US tour this week on Saturday, May 24th, at the MGM Music Hall at Fenway in Boston, Massachusetts.

The absolutely legendary rock and roll band AC-DC brought their PWR UP Tour to the Northwest Stadium in Landover, Maryland, on May 12, 2025. The home of the NFL’s Washington Commanders was shaking all night long. Taylor Momsen and The Pretty Reckless opened the show with their straight-ahead rock sound, and the packed stadium was sufficiently ready for a good time. Clouds threatened all evening, but as the skies darkened, and thousands of glowing, flashing devil horns lit up the night sky, there was no thunder struck and no rain to ruin the party.

This was one of the best concert experiences you could ever hope for. An incredible band, with a massive catalog of fantastic songs, bringing out all the stops to blow the crowd away. From the first note, to the clanging bell, to the fires from hell. To the cannons firing in salute, this was what rock and roll is all about.

Founding member Angus Young proved that he remains one of the best rock guitar players of all time. Angus is still in great shape, sporting his traditional school boy uniform and hat while dancing around the massive stage and catwalk throughout the 2-1/2 hour performance. While the rest of the band went backstage before the encore, Angus was raised on a huge platform as he soloed for 10 minutes straight.

Vocalist Brian Johnson hasn’t changed a bit since stepping in to fill the massive shoes of Bon Scott. He looks just as cool and sounds just as awesome as he always has. He clearly enjoys performing for the crowd and loves keeping them involved in the action. The majority of the crowd was singing along to every single song, and most were on their feet dancing as well.

Rhythm guitarist Stevie Young is the nephew of Angus and his late brother Malcolm. He certainly has the family resemblance and the DNA in his fingers to strum all of the classic riffs with just the right attitude and precision.

Drummer Matt Laug and bassist Chris Chaney are experienced touring musicians, and they make a solid team on the low end.

AC-DC packed in 21 classic bangers, representing 11 albums from throughout their 5 decade plus career. Nobody could have left disappointed, as all of their classics were delivered, with some deeper cuts clearly thrilling their most hard core fans. This is a short tour and you would be wise to travel to see this amazing show while you still can.

British blues-rock guitarist and singer-songwriter Joanne Shaw Taylor offers a dose of feel-good nostalgia with the release of her new single Summer Love.” Released today via Joe Bonamassa’s Journeyman Records, the track finds Joanne in a more carefree, radio-ready mode—without letting go of the heart and honesty that have defined her career.

“I specifically had it in my mind that I wanted to write a summer pop single for this album,” Joanne shares. “It’s just something I’ve always loved—driving around Michigan, now Tennessee in summer and having that one song you love to hear on the radio that years later triggers happy memories. I hope this could be that song for someone out there.”

With crisp handclaps, crunchy riffs, and a laid-back groove that begs to be played with the windows down, “Summer Love” tells the story of a fleeting romance that burned bright and ended sweet. “What’s to say, let’s call it what it is / It’ll almost be easy, getting over this,” Joanne sings, striking the perfect balance between wistful and free. “Had love for a season, both had our reasons / It’s only for forever—forever till September.”

“Summer Love” is the latest in a run of singles leading into Black & Gold, Joanne’s highly anticipated new album out June 6th. It follows the moody and emotionally raw “Look What I’ve Become,” the roaring rocker “Hell Of A Good Time,” and the introspective gems “Grayer Shade of Blue” and “I Gotta Stop Letting You Let Me Down.” Each release has shown a different side of Joanne’s artistry, reflecting a record that’s as dynamic as it is deeply personal.

Produced by Kevin Shirley (Black Crowes, Journey, Aerosmith), Black & Gold sees Joanne stretching beyond the boundaries of traditional blues-rock, embracing cinematic textures, soulful pop, and modern guitar grit. From the shimmering cover of Sam Sparro’s “Black & Gold” to the stirring ballad Who’s Gonna Love Me Now,” the album showcases Joanne’s evolution as a writer, player, and vocalist.

Joanne recently wrapped a string of U.S. Spring Tour dates and is gearing up for a summer packed with major festival and headline performances across North America and Europe and in the midst of announcing a US tour this fall. Known for her fiery musicianship and magnetic stage presence, she continues to captivate live audiences with a setlist that spans fan favorites and new material from Black & Gold. GHOST
SKELETÁ #1 ON THE BILLBOARD 200

FIRST HARD ROCK ALBUM TO TOP THE CHART IN MORE THAN FOUR YEARS

ALSO THE BAND’S FIRST EVER #1 DEBUT ON THE ARIA ALBUM CHART

Transcending genre and defying trends, GHOST’s SKELETÁ has debuted at #1 on the Billboard 200. The #1 album in the country, SKELETÁ accrued sales of 86,000 in the week since its April 25 release via Loma Vista Recordings.

Currently the world’s biggest-selling album and the week’s lone Top 10 debut, SKELETÁ’s first week haul bests the nearly 70,000 moved by its predecessor IMPERA in its first week of release. SKELETÁ also landed at #1 on the U.S. Album, Vinyl Album, Indie Store Album, Independent Album, Rock Album, Rock and Alternative Album, and Hard Rock Album charts. Internationally, the album bowed at #1 in the GRAMMY-winning theatrical rock outfit’s native Sweden as well as Germany, Australia, Austria, Belgium, Switzerland and Finland, #2 in the UK, Netherlands and Norway, #4 in France and #6 in Ireland, among others.

In addition to being the first time a hard rock album has topped the Billboard 200 since 2020, SKELETÁ has racked up the biggest sales week for a rock, hard rock or alternative album in 2025—as well as the biggest vinyl sales week for any hard rock LP since the dawn of the Luminate era in 1991 and the most for any rock album since 2023.

The coming of SKELETÁ was heralded by three singles/videos that trended Top 10 on YouTube, as GHOST garnered #1 spots on Tik Tok’s #NewMusic, iTunes and Amazon’s Best Sellers. First up was Satanized—dubbed a “catchy goth-rock epic” by VICE, followed by the  Lachryma—a fixture on Spotify’s Viral Charts, both globally and in key territories like the US, UK, Germany, and more deemed “economical, vicious, and contemporary, but tinged by ‘80s rhapsody” by PASTE and “phantasmagoric” by REVOLVER, and Peacefield, the monolithic anthem opening both the new record and GHOST’s massive live rituals on its current SKELETOUR WORLD TOUR 2025.

SHINEDOWN
RELEASE HAUNTING & BEAUTIFUL PIANO VERSION OF “THREE SIX FIVE”

“DANCE, KID, DANCE” TOUR HITS MADISON SQUARE GARDEN JULY 20TH

Today, the record-breaking, chart-topping, multi-platinum band Shinedown has released a stripped-down and yet hauntingly beautiful piano version of their quickly rising song “Three Six Five” via Atlantic Records.

The song has already caused quite a stir at radio as it is charting at FOUR radio formats where it has reached #5 at Alternative, #13 at Hot AC, Top 30 at Active Rock, and Top 30 at Mainstream AC radio  – not to mention it will be reaching Top 40 radio shortly. The unprecedented rise at radio is, well, preceded by Shinedown themselves as they previously pulled off a similar feat with their song “A Symptom of Being Human.”

This month the band kicked off their “Dance, Kid, Dance” Tour at Wells Fargo Arena in Des Moines, Iowa. Led by frontman Brent Smith, the band delivered an incredible performance with jaw-dropping production, pyrotechnics, and an absolutely mindblowing setlist. The 36-date tour is one of the largest run of shows (and venues) the band has ever put on. It will be the first time the band has ever headlined some of the country’s most legendary venues including Madison Square Garden (July 20th), Boston’s TD Garden (July 19th), LA’s Kia Forum (August 3rd), New Orleans’ Smoothie King (May 6th), and more.  Joining them on the tour are Beartooth and Bush (on select dates) and Morgan Wade for all shows. See full tour dates below and HERE.

Fans were on their feet from the first note as Brent Smith, Eric Bass, Barry Kerch, and Zach Myers tore through a set packed with highlights. They lit up the crowd with their hit “A Symptom of Being Human,” unveiled the live debut of their brand-new singles “Dance, Kid, Dance,” and “Three Six Five.” They even dusted off a few deep cuts they hadn’t played in nearly a decade, including “Asking for It,” “Burning Bright,” and “Breaking Inside,” plus treated fans to the first-ever live performance of “Thick as Thieves.” The energy was electric all night long, with the crowd belting back every word — especially during the fan-favorite smash “Second Chance” and their soaring cover of Lynyrd Skynyrd’s “Simple Man.” See photos from the first night HERE.

Recently, Shinedown released an official music video for their #1 song “Dance, Kid, Dance.” The music video, which was filmed in Brooklyn, NY, brings the viewer into a dark underground world of pure rock fervor and dance. The video opens up with concertgoers trying to break into a vending machine to take “the pills (that) will make you dance” and building into a nonstop crescendo of a mixture of rock and pure adrenaline. Not to mention, the video features the members of Shinedown doing exactly what they do best – bringing high energy with a killer live performance.

On the new music video and its creative vision Brent Smith said: “For the video, we really wanted to focus on the dancers. Every one of them brought so much energy to the set, and it was amazing to watch and be a part of. The song doesn’t let up, so it was super important that our performance as a band matched the intensity of the choreography. When it came to the location, everyone agreed that NYC was the place. The backdrop of the city, and the authenticity of the dance culture was extremely important. One of the coolest things about the video for us as a band, is that every time you watch it you see something new, and exciting. We had an absolute blast making it and we hope the fans love it as much as we do.”

The video was directed by Lewis Cater, choreographed by Julissa Bond, and edited by Samuel Halleen.

This year has also come with some historic wins for the band as they recently took home two trophies at the iHeartRadio Music Awards where they won Rock Artist of the Year and Rock Song of the Year for “A Symptom of Being Human.”

The awards were in celebration of the banner year they’ve had as “A Symptom of Being Human” has hit nearly 125 million global streams and charted at five radio formats including a #1 at Active, Top 10 at Alternative, Top 10 at AC, Top 15 at Hot AC and a Top 20 at Top 40. To date, Shinedown is the very first artist to get a song Top 10 at Active, Alternative, and Hot AC Radio on Mediabase with one song. The song, off of their Planet Zero album, resonated with fans across the globe for the unifying message of its lyrics: that it is our human connections that matter the most.

The band has already had a packed 2025 as their latest single “Dance, Kid, Dance” has made history reaching #1 on the Mediabase Active Rock Chart, which marks their 22nd song to reach #1 on the chart, and on the Billboard Mainstream Rock Chart. Shinedown has become the only band in the chart’s history to reach 20 #1’s on the chart.  Not to mention when the song entered the Top 5 on the Billboard Mainstream Rock Chart, Shinedown tied with the Foo Fighters for the artists with the most songs to hit the top 10 in the chart’s history with 32 songs each. All these incredible accomplishments continue to solidify that Shinedown have made a name for themselves in rock. On Mediabase, Shinedown hold the record for the most #1’s, #5’s, and #10’s on the Active Rock chart, with a total of 24 #1’s on the Mediabase charts.

“Definitely an up and coming artist to keep an eye on.” – Rock Show Critique

“[Deimer’s] style of rock ‘n’ roll is somewhere between AC/DC and Queensrÿche.”

– Hollywood Soapbox

“It’s very rare that a band can come on the scene with a sound that is totally fresh and unique, but that’s exactly what Kurt Deimer has done.” – Misplaced Straws

“Kurt Deimer [is] crafting a sound that’s equal parts sinister and electrifying.” – Macabre Daily

“Kurt Deimer is proof that passion, perseverance, and creativity know no age limit. “

“This debut [And So It Begins…] is a declaration…This is hard rock with a heart — weathered, maybe, but still beating like a kick drum.” – Chalked Up Reviews

“Kurt’s music is from the heart and is full of meaning in every word. Even if you are not a rock ‘n’ roll fan or the style does not appeal to you, please listen to what this man has to say. If more people would, then the world could be a lot better place.” – Rock At Night

“Deimer’s brand of hard rock hearkens back to the days of big hair…It’s not a retro album, though, with many tracks that embrace modern hard rock. Deimer’s baritone voice and use of spoken word/singsong along with regular singing is unique, standing out from the typical artist in the genre.”

– Heavy Music HQ

Los Angeles, CA – May 9, 2025 – Today, rising rock musician, actor, songwriter, and film producer Kurt Deimer has released his full-length debut album, And So It Begins…, via his own Bald Man Records. PRESS HERE to listen. The 17-track versatile collection, produced by five-time GRAMMY-winning producer Chris Lord-Alge (Green Day, Breaking Benjamin) and co-written with Bon Jovi guitarist Phil X, includes Deimer’s recent singles “Live Or Die,” “Big Toe,” and “Sunset Boulevard” as well as new focus track “Hero.” A jaw-dropping guest spot from Queensrÿche legend Geoff Tate also appears on the track “Burn Together,” with the expressive guitar work of Phil X heard throughout the expansive and cinematic rock spectacle. And So It Begins… is also available on CD and vinyl – PRESS HERE to order.

“Man, after what seems like an eternity but has been about 4 solid years of a lot of hard work that Chris Lord-Alge and I have put in to And So It Begins…, our debut album along with Phil X, it’s crazy to think today is the day that it’s coming out,” shares Deimer. “I’m so happy to share my thoughts and my lyrics and my feelings with the rest of the world. This album, being a debut double album, really helps launch who Kurt Deimer is and what he’s all about to the world. I’m very proud of it. I hope you all enjoy it. And so it begins…”

Everyone has dreams, but not many are bold enough to truly chase them. But Kurt Deimer followed his instincts and now, at an age when most people start thinking about slowing down, he’s releasing his double full-length debut collection. And So It Begins… draws on a wealth of life experiences from the Cincinnati native, who started his first rock band at age 20 but ended up taking a more conventional route as a young man. The album covers a ton of stylistic ground – natural for a musician interested in everything from AC/DC to R.E.M. to Widespread Panic – and offers an overarching message of optimism.

Lead single Live Or Die is a powerful statement on living one’s truest life by taking the chances that matter most, while the moody epic Big Toe” is a song of hope elevated by the drama of Deimer’s husky and uniquely deep register. Recent single “Sunset Boulevard” captures the total Sunset Strip ‘80s vibe of rock ‘n’ roll and the many artists that have inspired Deimer throughout his life. “Hero” is Kurt’s dedication to all those that stand up and show up to help others – frontline workers, first responders, military and veterans, neighbors – proving anyone can be a hero to someone else. PRESS HERE to watch the new lyric video for “Hero.” Elsewhere, And So It Begins… bounces from the thunderous hard rock riffs of “Naïve” to the acerbic funk-metal of “Back of The School” to the symphonic grandeur on his cover of the Pink Floyd classic Have A Cigar,” which masterfully fades in to his take on The Doors single “Riders on the Storm” to close out the diverse collection. Full track listing for And So It Begins… below.

Deimer is currently showcasing the songs from And So It Begins… on an extensive Canadian tour supporting Buckcherry and Steel Panther, which wraps later this month. Afterwards, Deimer and his impressive band (Sammy Boller [lead guitar], Marco Pera [bass/background vocals], and Isaiah Perez [drums]) will open for classic rockers TESLA on select dates in June. See below for all upcoming tour dates and visit www.kurtdeimer.com for ticketing details.

In a few short years, Kurt Deimer has made a name for himself in the hard rock scene with his headbanging guitar riffs and socially conscious, anthemic lyrics. His rise in the music industry began when Brian Wheat of TESLA was so impressed by Deimer’s live performance and music while watching him open for the iconic band that Wheat invited Deimer to join TESLA on the road. This opportunity fueled Deimer’s passion to push his music career further, leading to the release of his debut EP, Work Hard, Rock Hard, in late 2021. The acclaimed collection launched the powerful musical partnership of Deimer and Phil X, combining Deimer’s anthemic vocals with Phil X’s thunderous riffs. Deimer has spent the last few years relentlessly touring, sharing the stage with other major acts including Geoff Tate, Drowning Pool, Skid Row, Buckcherry, and Sebastian Bach and recently appeared on the Monsters of Rock Cruise. In addition to his growing music career, the multi-talent and successful businessman is a flourishing actor, spearheading his own horror movie franchise “Hellbilly Hollow” as both star and producer. Deimer’s acting career took off when he appeared in John Carpenter’s 2018 “Halloween,” portraying a pivotal role alongside Jamie Lee Curtis and facing off against the infamous Michael Myers as the teller. His latest feature film is “Scared To Death” (2024), written and directed by music video veteran Paul Boyd (Neon Trees, Dave Stewart, Shania Twain).

Kurt Deimer’s relentless positivity and unwavering perseverance have propelled him to multifaceted success across the entertainment industry, with his winding journey and hard-hitting rock songs leaving the listener with an overarching message of hope: It’s never too late to make shit happen.

Ukrainian Metal Titans JINJER Unleash Ferocious New Video for Fan Favorite “Fast Draw”

Order Your Copy of Acclaimed Fifth Album, DuélNOW

Ukrainian modern metal powerhouse JINJER has dropped a crushing new music video for “Fast Draw”, a standout track from their critically acclaimed latest album, Duél. Featuring explosive live footage from their recent European tours alongside metal legends Sepultura, as well as highlights from last summer’s festival circuit, the video offers a front-row seat to JINJER’s blistering live energy and commanding stage presence.

Renowned for their genre-defying sound and electrifying performances, JINJER continues to rise as one of the most dynamic forces in today’s metal landscape. The band spent 2024 on the road with Sepultura as part of the iconic group’s farewell world tour, and 2025 has already seen them bring their ferocity to stages across Asia and Australia. This summer, JINJER will storm North America as direct support for Babymetal, with additional high-profile festival appearances set for Download UKGraspop Metal Meeting, and more.

Watch the official video for “Fast Draw” now and experience the unrelenting power of JINJER – live and unleashed.

For latest album Duél – which features multiple music videos with multi-millions of combined views to date and broke into the charts at #2 US Hard Music Albums, #6 US Current Rock Albums, #2 CAN Hard Music Albums, #3 France Metal, #7 UK Rock & Metal and beyond – the band once again collaborated with accomplished producer Max Morton, who co-produced, mixed and mastered the album. This new masterwork lives up to JINJER’s reputation as metal visionaries, proving that they defy barriers of influence while charging a path entirely of their own making. This is proven with songs like “Rogue”“Green Serpent” and “Dark Bile”, conjuring astonishing heaviness unlike ever before. Followers of world-class screamer and multifaceted singer Tatiana Shmayluk will revel in her display of unrelenting power and gripping emotional delivery as early as album opener “Tantrum” , while cruel stunners like “Fast Draw” and “Duél” showcase the acclaimed technical craftwork of drummer Vlad Ulasevich, guitarist Roman Ibramkhalilov and bassist Eugene Abdukhanov.

Eugene Abdukhanov, JINJER bassist on the new album:
After all the releases we’ve made, finally having Duél in our hands and ready to be shared with the world, makes us very proud that our band still hasn’t run out of creativity and inspiration. The fact that we still challenge ourselves to release the best music we have ever made with each new release, is what keeps JINJER moving forward. This album was the longest songwriting process we’ve ever had and it took almost two years to complete. We worked very hard with every free minute we weren’t on tour, recording demos over and over again and always searching for the perfect sound for guitars, bass and drums. It was also the first time that Tatiana did vocal pre-productions, so it’s safe to say that none of our releases were so well thought out and calculated as this one. It pulverizes the boundaries of the modern progressive metal genre but still remains sophisticated, exciting and extreme all at the same time. We took up the challenge to expand our musical horizons even wider than before in order to cement Duél to be the next step in JINJER‘s musical growth and hopefully the evolution of metal music in general.”

Fall Headline Tour Scheduled to Kick Off October 31st with Special Guest Myles Kennedy

GRAMMY® Award-nominated songwriter, vocalist, multi-instrumentalist, and producer Wolfgang Van Halen is back with the latest single from the band he masterminds, Mammoth. “The End” is an adrenaline-driven rocker that kicks off with a signature lead guitar riff that has become a fan-favorite element in Wolfgang’s music. The anthemic build of the intro gives way to the driving verse melody with each part carefully created and performed by Van Halen and his returning collaborator Michael “Elvis” Baskette. The chorus is driven by the unforgettable vocal melody as the message of “Take your hand in mine and watch the end with me.” The song is now available for pre-save via all digital service providers here

“I’ve had the tapping idea on the intro for ‘The End’ since before Mammoth. I was able to fit it into this world. It’s still over-the-top and shreddy, but it’s also melodic and controlled. Overall, I was doing some different things on the record, and I knew this was going to be a big step. Once we finished ‘The End,’ it felt really special to me,” explains Wolfgang Van Halen.

To coincide with the single release, Wolfgang and Mammoth have released a music video for “The End” that is one for the history books and something rarely seen in music videos anymore. Wolfgang teamed up with legendary director Robert Rodriguez to do a modern-day interpretation of Rodriguez’s 1996 hit film, From Dusk Till Dawn. The video tells the story of a rock band that is booked to play a show at a dive bar and given an ominous warning from the club owner portrayed by Danny Trejo. Mammoth decides they know better, and things quickly turn dire for the band before a surprising revelation during the final moments tie the complete video lore from the band together. Friends of Mammoth including Slash, Myles Kennedy and Wolfgang’s mother Valerie Bertinelli all show up throughout the short film. Horror effects icon Greg Nicotero offered his talents to the video to create zombies, werewolves and vampires that all bring a deadly end to the attendees of the show. The music video for “The End” can be seen here

With a short run of May dates creating excitement for a Mammoth tour, the band is announcing a Fall headline run. The End Tourkicks off on October 31st and runs for 5 weeks before it wraps up on December 7th. The tour will make stops in Las Vegas, NV (November 1), Atlanta, GA (November 8), Montclair, NJ (November 14), Chicago, IL (November 26) and Tempe, AZ (December 6) to name a few. Longtime friend Myles Kennedy will be the special guest on the run. Tickets will be on sale starting May 5th via artist presale and on sale to the public on Friday, May 9th. For as unique as the music is, his story so far proves to be just as unprecedented. This is arguably the first hard rock act to genuinely break out from ground zero in the 2020’s, generating north of 100 million streams, toppling charts, and selling out headline tours less than five years since its debut. Back in 2021, Mammoth’s first offering, Mammoth WVH, took flight, bowing at #12 on the Billboard 200 and capturing #1 on three Billboard charts—Top Hard Rock Albums, Top Independent Albums, and Top Rock Albums. “Distance” soared as the first of two #1 Rock Radio Hits and earned a GRAMMY® Award nomination for “Best Rock Song.” Two years later, Mammoth II only saw him pick up the pace. It debuted in the Top 5 of the Billboard Top Album Sales Chart in addition to bringing him back to #1 on the Top Hard Rock Albums Chart. It incited widespread applause from Rolling Stone, Guitar World, GRAMMY.com, Classic Rock, American Songwriter, and KERRANG! The band canvased the globe with Metallica and Pantera and supported Foo Fighters in North America as well as filling houses on their own. They performed on ABC’s Jimmy Kimmel LIVE!, at MusiCares 2024 gala in honor of Jon Bon Jovi, and Wolf took the stage at the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame® Induction of Ozzy Osbourne. Now, Wolfgang pushes forward on Mammoth’s third full-length LP.
